Esposizione Memento di Gaël Davrinche – dal 26 aprile al 1 giugno 2013 da ego gallery

ego gallery è lieta di presentare la mostra Memento, che aprirà le porte al pubblico venerdì 26 aprile a partire dalle 17:30 in Via Luigi Canonica 9, a Lugano. In quest’occasione, sarà possibile vedere per la prima volta in Svizzera le opere dell’artista francese Gaël Davrinche. Artista di spicco nel panorama dell’arte contemporanea francese e internazionale, Gaël Davrinche espone oggi i suoi lavori in tutto il mondo rivendicando l’appartenenza ad una tradizione pittorica figurativa dalle radici profonde. Nei suoi “memento mori”, una serie di fiori che sembrano lottare contro il tempo, l’artista riesce a cogliere il movimento di un attimo riflettendo così sull’intero ciclo della natura e sul rapporto che l’uomo intrattiene con esso. Ma Gaël Davrinche sembra ballare il tango anche con la storia dell’arte: in particolare i suoi ritratti ci spingono indietro nel tempo, ci fanno pensare ai grandi maestri della pittura come Rembrandt, Velasquez o Vermeer. Poi però, velocemente, ci riportano alla realtà del mondo contemporaneo, all’individuo, alle sue aspirazioni, al suo ruolo nella società e soprattutto alle sue contraddizioni.

With the show Memento, opening Friday april 26th at 17:30 in Via Luigi Canonica 9, ego gallery is proud to introduce for the first time in Switzerland, the work of Gaël Davrinche. A prominent artist on the French and international contemporary art scene, Gaël Davrinche currently exhibits his works all over the world, pursuing a representative painting tradition with strong roots in art history. In his “memento mori”, a series of flowers seemingly struggling against time, the artist is able to capture the movement of a moment, thus reflecting on the whole cycle of nature and the relationship between man and nature. Gaël Davrinche seems to dance a sort of tango with art history: specifically, his portraits push us back in time, reminiscent of the great painters such as Rembrandt, Velasquez or Vermeer. But then, on the other hand, they suddenly move us forward again to the contemporary world, to the individuals and their aspirations, their role in the society and, above all, their contradictions.
